This set of Japanese candles and candlesticks is made by Takazawa Candle, a long-established Japanese candle shop in Nanao City, Ishikawa Prefecture. All the materials in the Japanese candles are plant-based. They produce little smoke and soot, and are made from gentle materials that will not damage delicate Buddhist altars or the walls and ceilings of your room. The white candles are for daily prayers, and the red ones are for special memorial services or New Year's. They are perfect for visiting family during Obon or as offerings when traveling far away. A ceramic candlestick is also included, which is convenient when using Japanese candles for the first time. Although they are more expensive than regular candles, these carefully crafted Japanese candles are beautiful and make a wonderful gift. Also, although they may look small, these Japanese candles have a long burning time of about 55 minutes.
